Product Description

1. Product Characteristics

Konjac refined powder is a powdered product made from konjac corms through crushing, grinding, separation, and sieving. The 120-mesh specification is a fine powder grade with uniform, moderately fine particles. The product appears as a white to off-white or light yellowish-brown powder with a slight characteristic odour of konjac. The main component of konjac refined powder is glucomannan, a natural high-molecular-weight dietary fibre that forms a high-viscosity solution when mixed with water. It expands significantly after absorbing water and forms a heat-stable gel when heated with an appropriate amount of alkali. The 120-mesh grade sits between ordinary refined powder (40–100 mesh) and purified micro-powder (>120 mesh), retaining the characteristic flavour of konjac while offering good dispersibility and solubility, making it suitable for a wide range of food processing applications.

3. Uses

With thickening, gelling, and water-holding properties as its core advantages, konjac refined powder is suited for quality improvement and structural optimisation in food processing.

Refined product improvement: Can be used in dried noodles, bread, cakes, and other Refined-based products. When added, it helps noodles resist overcooking, cloudiness, and breakage, resulting in a smooth, soft texture. Bread shows improved water retention, increased elasticity, and larger volume. Cakes show better water retention, improved toughness, and a finer texture.

Gel food production: Used in traditional konjac foods such as konjac tofu, konjac cakes, and konjac noodles. It forms a heat-stable gel, resulting in products with good toughness, water retention, and resistance to breaking.

Food additive compounding: Can be used synergistically with carrageenan, xanthan gum, pectin, and other ingredients to make compound gels for use in jellies, meat products, and other foods for thickening and stabilisation.

Dietary fibre supplementation: Rich in glucomannan, konjac refined powder can be used as a dietary fibre ingredient in meal replacement powders, solid beverages, and other products.

4. Usage Scenarios

Konjac refined powder is suitable for various scenarios in food processing companies where raw material quality improvement and product structure optimisation are required.

Refined product processing companies: Used for quality improvement in dried noodles, bread, cakes, and other products. Recommended addition level is 0.1%–0.2% of Refined weight – simple to use with stable results.

Traditional konjac food processors: Used in the production of konjac tofu, konjac noodles, and other products. The 120-mesh powder has moderate fineness, good gelatinisation, and is suitable for batch production.

Food additive compounding companies: Used as a raw material for compound gels, combined with carrageenan, xanthan gum, and other ingredients for thickening and stabilisation in jellies, meat products, and other foods.

Health food and meal replacement product companies: Used as a dietary fibre ingredient in meal replacement powders, solid beverages, and other health food products.

5. Material (Origin & Raw Material)

Konjac refined powder uses konjac (also known as devil's tongue) corms as raw material. Konjac is a root vegetable widely cultivated in China, with production in Shaanxi, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, and other provinces. Konjac corms are rich in glucomannan, a high-molecular-weight non-ionic mannan with an average molecular weight ranging from 200,000 to 2,000,000.

Konjac corms must be harvested after full growth, as corm size and maturity directly affect the glucomannan content and quality of the refined powder. The raw material undergoes washing and peeling as pre-treatment to ensure product purity.

6. Production Process

There are two main processing methods for konjac refined powder: dry processing and wet processing.

Dry processing: Fresh konjac is washed, peeled, and sliced, then dried to produce dried konjac slices (chips). These are then sorted, crushed and ground, separated, sieved (120 mesh), inspected, and packaged. The dry process is simpler and lower in cost, but the product contains more impurities and has a slightly darker colour.

Wet processing (solvent method): Fresh konjac is ground with food-grade alcohol added as a protective agent to prevent glucomannan from swelling in water. The mixture is then separated, washed, dehydrated, dried, and sieved. The wet process produces a refined powder with a whiter colour and higher purity, but at a relatively higher cost.

The 120-mesh konjac refined powder passes through a 120-mesh sieve during the sieving stage to ensure uniform fineness.

7. Quality Control

Raw material sourcing: Selection of fully mature, well-shaped konjac corms; insect-damaged and rotten materials removed.

Processing control: Dry process – control of grinding time and air flow opening; wet process – control of alcohol concentration and drying temperature (90–100°C) to prevent glucomannan gelatinisation and denaturation.

Fineness control: Passing through a 120-mesh sieve to ensure uniform fineness.

Final inspection: Colour, moisture content, viscosity, and other routine tests conducted on each batch.

Packaging and storage: Three-layer packaging (inner plastic bag, middle cloth bag or kraft paper bag, outer woven bag). Stored in a dry, ventilated, light-protected warehouse.

8. Packaging & Shipping

Packaging: Standard export packaging uses food-grade paper-plastic composite bags or kraft paper bags with food-grade moisture-proof liners to ensure protection against moisture and contamination during transit. Depending on the fineness specification and customer requirements, standard packaging is 25kg/bag or 20kg/bag. Custom packaging is available upon request, including small household packs (e.g., 1kg/pack, 500g/pack), retail packs, and industrial bulk packaging.

Shipping: Sea freight, air freight, and rail transport are all available, with delivery to major domestic ports and overseas destinations. Shipments are made directly from the place of origin, with full traceability throughout the logistics chain to ensure safe and on-time delivery. Konjac refined powder must be stored in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated place, protected from moisture to prevent caking. Moisture-proof container shipping is recommended.

9. Delivery & Samples

Sample Service: Free samples (approximately 200–500g) are available and can be sent to your designated address. You are welcome to conduct your own inspections before placing an order. Samples are randomly selected from actual stock to ensure they match the batch shipment.

Lead Time: Orders are normally dispatched within 5–7 working days after confirmation. Large orders can be scheduled by negotiation. LCL consolidation is supported to accommodate mixed orders and flexible purchasing needs.
